Dismissal is when you end the employment of one of your employees. This could happen in several ways, including:
- Telling an employee that you are ending their employment, with or without notice
- By breaching your employment contract so badly that you constructively dismiss your employee and they are forced to leave
- A fixed-term contract is not renewed
When dismissing an employee, you must show that you have:
- a valid reason that you can justify (following an investigation)
- acted reasonably in the circumstances
